The Particular in Politics

One of the problems with identity politics is that it makes things particular; therefore, according to their approach, what happens to one group does not happen to everyone. Not only is this false, but it alienates everyone.

One clear example of this is the issue of "slut-shaming". The assumption is that only women are shamed for their sexuality, which totally ignores the fact that men are called dogs, pigs and creeps, all because of their sexuality. You might want to find an excuse this abuse of men and shaming them for their sexuality, but it is in fact the same kind of shaming.

Also, the assumption in much of the feminist approaches is that only women are shamed at all. Women, they will say, are expected to look a certain way, etc. The claim is that men have no equivalent shame. Except that, men are expected to perform, be successful, be capable, and a man who is not is considered a wimp, worthless, a loser.

So, again, what happens to one happens to all. Saying otherwise is divisive, alienating and offensive.

Technology, Work and Moving Forward

We have spent thousands of years developing technology to make our lives easier and now that we're at a point that it can make our lives easier, happier and more creative, we insist on thinking that struggling is cool, keeping to a backward notion of work and employment and "industry", while all it would take is for smart people to arrange things so that everyone leads a good life with the means we've developed so far.It is amazing to me how absurd the set up is now, that we keep to it even though it goes against everything we've been trying to do throughout human history. We still have it stuck in our heads that we are struggling in the wilderness and must "work hard" and overcome, instead of realizing that all that work to build up a technology so that we don't have to struggle has arrived and we can stop acting like cavemen.

Left and Right Misguided Mixture

Neoliberals like the Clintons are a good example of how merging Left and Right go wrong; they ended up with a stagnant approach that exploits identity politics, deregulates and hands the political system and economy over to the rich. The Clintons are famous for appealing to the Right by being tough on crime, for instance, which has led to mass incarceration. Bill Clinton, as Governor of Arkansas, allowed a brain damaged black man get executed even though prison officials themselves hated the idea because the man had the mentality of a child. Bill didn't want to be seen as a soft Liberal and wanted to appeal to Conservatives.

Neo-Liberal McCarthy-ism

 I think it's funny that Establishment Democrats are resorting to McCarthyite tactics because no one cares for their stagnant and deceptive approach anymore, except for a few dinosaurs who fall for their outdated overuse of identity politics while they've installed welfare reform that has made people more miserable, have catered to Wall St and deregulated banks and have filled prisons with their tough on crime policy that has proven they are Conservatives in "Liberal" clothing. They might as well set up a House on Un-neoliberal Activities committee to thwart all the media that doesn't agree with their own misleading rhetoric and hypocrisy.
